Mangosteen Tree
In the US, you may never see a mangosteen
tree although people say that mangosteen trees
are beautiful. A mangosteen tree is a tropical evergreen
tree, small but quite tall, that is found largely
throughout southeast Asia. There are fields and fields of
mangosteen trees in many parts of Thailand, for example.

Origin of Mangosteen
Some believe that the origin
of mangosteen is the Sunda Islands and the
Moluccas. Mangosteen trees are native to
Malaysia and Indonesia but many other southeast
Asian countries now grow mangosteen trees.
How tall is a mangosteen
tree?
The tree can be as tall as
25 meters. In general, a mangosteen tree ranges
from 7 to 25 m (20-80 ft) tall.
When is the mangosteen
season?
Mangosteen is a seasonal
fruit. Mangosteen fruits are in season in
summer and autumn.

Is a mangosteen tree easy to grow?
A mangosteen tree is not easy to grow. They
are slow growing and difficult to propagate. The climate and
soil have to be just right to grow good mangosteen trees
bearing delicious mangosteen fruit.

you can find a way to visit a mangosteen orchard which is
usually one of many in that country.
