Garcinia Mangostana (G. Mangostana) is the scientific name for the Purple Mangosteen, known simply as "the mangosteen". The purple mangosteen belongs to the same genus as the other, less widely known, mangosteens, such as:

  • the button mangosteen (Garcinia prainiana) or
  • the Garcinia madruno (Garcinia madruno).
