Question: Pomegranate juice has higher antioxidant level than Vit C. Does it mean it is better? are they all different?

You see acai a fruit from the amazon having the highest number for antioxidents along with Mangosteen fruit and the wolfe berry from China. Pamegranate has more or higher number for antioxidents. Vit A , C, Iodine, Vit E are forms of antioxidents? If I drink the highest level of antioxident like from the acai juice or Mangosteen juice or the pomegranate juice, why should eat any else that has number lower. Can someone break this down for me. about antioxidents? Thank you.

Answer: Antioxidant claims are the latest fad in the "natural" food and supplement industry. While there is some theoretical and test tube evidence of antioxidants at the molecular level, whether it actually makes a difference at the macro level (you and me) has never been demonstrated.

Nevertheless it is the kind of idea that fits in well with folks who think they need detoxifying and cleansing, and they've taken it on as yet another new age thing that has a vague connection to science to give it some sort of credibility. (Ironic how they despise and reject science, but secretly want its validation)

There is no way to rank how potent an antioxidant food is. There is no such scale that has any meaning at all. Stop being so obsessed with the concept, it is largely mythology.

Eat a healthy diet with a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies....especially ones with rich dark colors and you will be fine...and save yourself lots of money as well.

Question: Mangosteen. Has anyone tried this for treating Lupus (SLE), please?

Is there anyone who has Lupus (Systemic Lupus erythamatosis) and treated themselves successfully with Mangosteen (the fruit from Asia) either the juice or the capsules, and found that their health has improved as a result. Also if anyone has suffered with severe digestive problems and found Mangosteen has helped, it would be great to hear from them. I am trying to help someone with Lupus who, although currently on highly toxic medications, has little problem with the Lupus itself these days and leads a normal life. Blood tests are excellent and his consultant is very pleased. My friend only sees his consultant once a year but the consultant insists my friend remains on this dangerous medication, just in case things flare up again! Unfortunately, after almost 10 years, these medications are causing other unneccesary health problems and my friend is now 45. Our research into Mangosteen has been interesting. Can you give us your personal experience please? No doctors, please!

Answer: A lotof these considered opinions are just plain wrong. There is a huge body of scientific work that has gone into Mangosteen research. you only have to go into Pub med or medline and type in xanthones or Mangosteen to get The evidence. If doctors are providing answers then lets base then on facts.
I would advise all to just study The research and draw your own conclusions.
It is a food, and it does have some properties worth reseaching. why use a drug if a food will do the same job
